Terms of Service

These terms cover the Google Cloud project published under sillylogger and the OAuth client it registers (the “Project”), which is managed by Tommy Sullivan. The Project exists so that command-line tools, including gws and gog, can authenticate and call Google APIs on behalf of the person who authorizes it. By authorizing the Project, you agree to what follows. If you do not agree, do not authorize it.
What the Project is
The Project is a personal OAuth registration, provided free of charge as a personal undertaking rather than a commercial product. It carries no service level, no uptime commitment, and no promise of support, maintenance, or continued availability. It may be reconfigured, restricted, or withdrawn at any time and without notice.
The command-line tools that authenticate through the Project are separate programs, governed by their own licences and terms. Nothing here is a warranty about those tools, and these terms do not grant you any right in them.
Your Google account
Authorization happens on Google’s OAuth consent screen, and the access granted is yours to give. You are responsible for the account you connect and for everything done under your authorization. Your use of Google’s services remains subject to Google’s Terms of Service.
You may revoke access at any time from your Google Account permissions page.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Project’s credentials to:
- access data you are not authorized to access, or any account that is not yours to operate;
- send unsolicited bulk email, spam, or other messaging that violates Google’s policies or applicable law;
- break any law, regulation, or third-party right, including privacy and intellectual property rights;
- circumvent, overload, or interfere with Google’s APIs, rate limits, or infrastructure;
- resell, rebrand, or offer access through the Project to others as a service.
The access granted writes and deletes real data
The scopes you approve can permit creating, modifying, sending, and deleting data in your Google account, and a command does exactly what you tell it to do. There is no undo. You are responsible for knowing what a command will do before you run it, and for keeping your own backups of anything you cannot afford to lose.
No warranty
The Project is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. There is no guarantee that it will be available, that any tool using it will behave correctly, or that any particular result will be achieved.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tommy Sullivan is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, nor for any loss of data, revenue, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or connected to your use of the Project or of any tool that authenticates through it. This applies whether the claim is based in contract, tort, or any other theory, and whether or not the possibility of such damage was known.
Termination
You may stop at any time by revoking access. Access may be withdrawn, and the Project discontinued, at any time and for any reason.
Changes
These terms may be updated as the Project changes. Any revision is published on this page with a new date at the top, and continuing to use the Project after that means you accept the revision.
